Once again, Contegix goes above and beyond the call of duty. Apparently, while I was sound asleep, OpenQA crashed and burned. Contegix was on top of the problem almost immediately and had it resolved in half an hour. Not bad, considering the entire authentication mechanism (LDAP, which controls even shell login) died! Here's the email I found in my inbox this morning:
Openqa01 set off multiple alerts at 03:38 CST, on Friday July 7th. Upon attempting to log in to check the system, access was denied due to authentication system problems. I had to connect a crash cart to the system, locally logging in as the root user to gain access. After some investigation, it was determined that the LDAP database had become unstable. After taking the machine offline and rebuilding the LDAP database, we were forced to restart the machine to bring all services online again. The LDAP issue resulted in the system being unstable or unavailable for approximately 34 minutes.
At this point, all services appear to be running properly. Please contact us if you have any questions or need assistance.
I can't stop saying it. If you need solid hosting, go to Contegix. You won't be sorry.
